Micael Durán, AIA
My work began with a piece of jewelry designed for my wife.
The first piece,Coalescence, was created after we had been dating for a year. I wanted to mark the occasion with something more meaningful than a conventional anniversary gift, so I designed a pendant around the idea of two lives coming together.
Since then, jewelry has become a way for me to mark anniversaries, milestones, and meaningful moments. I have continued to design pieces for the same woman, now my wife, and occasionally for family and close friends. In 2026, I began releasing select work publicly for the first time.
My background is in architecture, sculpture, and material experimentation. I am a licensed architect with over 16 years of experience, and have practiced in New York, Shanghai, Los Angeles, and Dallas. My work is shaped by an architectural way of thinking: proportion, structure, balance, tension, and the way objects hold meaning through form.
Each piece begins as a design study, but is meant to become something personal: an object that can be worn, held, gifted, and carried forward.
The work is designed and produced in New York. It sits between architecture, sculpture, and adornment: small-scale objects with weight, precision, and emotional intent.
